Mothers have a gigantic impact in
our growth as individuals. A good
mother-daughter relationship can only help
you positively when it comes to self-esteem,
social skills and self-awareness.
Indian women understand the power
of such bond; so much that every day is
an occasion for them to develop
this bond through rituals, activities and
habits that they practice from childhood
to adulthood.

One ritual mothers and daughters practice since childhood that I love is their bedtime hair care. Mothers would brush
and oil their daughter’s hair before
sleeping almost every single day. Some
mothers would also sing for their daughters
while doing this.
This not only builds this
mother-daughter bond but also helps them grow
their beautiful hair and build their
self-esteem. They learn how beautiful it is
to be a girl and a woman. They grow up
embarrassing their femininity.
This is such a beautiful ritual that I hope every modern
Indian women would cherish and pass
down to their daughters.
